vintage WORKING federal electric co Resonating Horn 24” Fire #55 Long

You are looking at a vintage WORKING federal electric co. Resonating Horn that is 24” long. This is type #55.  This has a plug in cord attached to it.  I plugged it in and it really sounded loudly.  I unplugged it very quickly.  the fact that it has a normal plug attached to the some wiring makes me think it isn't supposed to be that way. I think this may have been adapted to the plug in type.  Of course, it can be adapted back to original.  I started to put this on my truck with a power inverter.  I still might.  It is really cool.  I don't know if I can do that though either.  It works though.  It may have been part of a fire alarm at a station or a siren.  If you have any questions, please ask.  Thanks for looking.
