BEAUTIFUL BATIK JAVA
This is without doubt the most beautiful Javanese batik I have ever seen. I bought it in the mid 80s in Jogjakarta & it is dated 71, so almost 50 years old & in perfect condition apart from two little tears at the corners where it was hung on the wall. It is a Ramayana scene, with the east Javanese king Erlangga riding on the back of the mythical Garuda, & so many other mythical figures from the Javanese interpretation of the Ramayana. I cannot imagine how long it took to draw this, it should be framed & perhaps hung in a museum, I do not have a place to put it otherwise I would keep it, it truly is a site for sore eyes. Great panorama, it is all natural dyes & measures 96" x 41". (244cm x 105cm.. .
