Indonesian Wood Helmet Mask, Sumatra, Toba Batak, a large mask fashioned from a single piece of wood, depicted with mouth open, large eyes, sharply defined cheeks, large ears, helmet form where mask covers entire head, used in the patortorhon ugas ni tondi men’s funerary dance, covered with pigments. Mounted on contemporary stand.
Split to the back of the head, signs of wear, loss to pigments, overall good condition.
Mask: 17 in. High.
Overall: 21-3/4 in. high x 10-1/2 in. wide x 10-1/2 in. deep.
